Medha Rana of Border 2 Fame Joins Ahan Shetty in Tinu Suresh Desai’s Sanki

Medha Rana, who made her mark with Border 2, has joined the cast of Sanki, the action drama starring Ahan Shetty and directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. According to an exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama published on October 31, Rana has come on board the film, which went on floors in Bhopal on October 30 with Pooja Hegde co-starring alongside Shetty. Details of Rana’s role have not yet been revealed.

The casting adds another new face to a film that is already one of the more closely watched young-star projects in the pipeline. Sanki marks a new chapter for Ahan Shetty, who headlines the action drama under Desai’s direction, with Hegde as his co-star. The film began shooting in Bhopal just days ago, and Rana’s addition suggests the makers are still rounding out the ensemble even as the shoot gets underway. Rana’s breakthrough came with Border 2, where her performance brought her to the attention of mainstream audiences and filmmakers. Joining a front-foot action drama opposite a young leading man is a different kind of test from her breakout role, and it places her in the middle of a production that has been generating steady trade buzz since its Bhopal schedule began.

Here is the Filmverse take: this is the kind of casting news that tells you where the industry’s confidence is flowing. A newcomer who breaks out in a big ensemble war film does not usually have to wait long for her next project, and Sanki gives Rana a commercial action canvas rather than another supporting slot. For Ahan Shetty, too, the casting matters: Sanki is being built as a full-scale action drama, and a fresh pairing alongside Pooja Hegde keeps the film’s casting story moving at exactly the moment its shoot has begun. If the Bhopal schedule delivers the scale the makers are promising, Sanki could be the film that defines both its young leads’ next phase.
