Ramayana Advance Booking: Rs 45.96 Crore in India, Rs 75 Crore Worldwide Before Release

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One is heading into its November 5 release with one of the biggest advance-booking runs in recent Indian cinema. By 6 am on Monday, November 2, the film had sold tickets worth Rs 45.96 crore in India across all dates open for booking, with 11.01 lakh tickets sold across 35,697 shows in 1,708 cinemas and 527 cities. All figures are trade estimates.

One qualification matters for readers following the numbers. The Rs 45.96 crore headline figure includes seats blocked by cinemas; without blocked seats, the India advance total stood at Rs 36.85 crore. Neither figure is a final box-office collection — both are pre-sales that will keep changing as more shows open. The opening day, Thursday, November 5, accounts for the largest share: Rs 25.39 crore including blocked seats, or Rs 21.30 crore without them.

The Hindi version is driving the run, contributing Rs 38.70 crore — about 84 per cent of the domestic advance gross — with strong demand for Hindi 3D screenings. The film’s advance bookings have surged since a revenue-sharing deadlock was resolved, with the screen count rising to around 3,500 after 1,000 screens were added in two days, including single screens.

Overseas, the picture is just as strong. Advance bookings abroad stood at about $3.9 million (around Rs 36.95 crore), including more than $1.5 million from US paid previews alone, taking the worldwide advance-booking gross past Rs 75 crore three days before release. That puts Ramayana ahead of the pre-sales of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, though still behind the biggest Indian advance runs such as RRR and Pushpa 2.

Here is the Filmverse take: advance bookings are the most honest pre-release verdict a film gets, because they measure money spent rather than trailer views. Ramayana’s numbers matter for a second reason — this is a three-hour-plus mythological epic, not a conventional action film, and exhibitors needed proof that audiences would commit in advance before giving it premium screens. The blocked-seat caveat is worth keeping in mind, but even the lower Rs 36.85 crore figure, three days out, points to a very large opening. The real test begins on Thursday, when reviews and word of mouth take over from pre-sales.
