Tu Hai Meri Kiran Releases Today After Producers Resolve Dispute: ‘Matter Sorted Internally,’ Say Vishal Rana and Sarvesh Goel

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s Tu Hai Meri Kiran will release in cinemas today, October 23, as scheduled — ending days of uncertainty over whether the film would make it to theatres at all. Amid reports of a dispute between the film’s producers, producers Vishal Rana and Sarvesh Goel have clarified that the matter has been resolved internally and preparations for the scheduled release are moving ahead.

Speaking about the matter, producer Vishal Rana said, “There were certain matters that needed to be addressed, and I am glad that we have been able to resolve them internally. Everything is now sorted, and we are moving ahead with the release of Tu Hai Meri Kiran as planned on 23rd October. Our focus has always been on bringing the film to audiences.” Producer Sarvesh Goel added, “There have been reports surrounding the film, but I would like to clarify that the matter has been resolved internally. We are moving forward as planned.”

The turnaround is dramatic. Just four days ago, the Bombay High Court had ruled that Echelon Productions could not commercially release or exploit the film unless it deposited Rs 8.85 crore along with 15% annual interest to secure the investment made by co-producer AND Movie Products LLP, after a co-production agreement under which both sides were to contribute Rs 7.50 crore each toward a Rs 15-crore budget.

Written and directed by Karan Rawal, Tu Hai Meri Kiran stars Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal in the lead roles, alongside Ankit Gupta, Sherlin Seth, Zarina Wahab and Purnendu Bhattacharya — a romance-mystery about one-sided feelings, relationships and unexpected developments.

For a mid-budget film, surviving a court order to reach release day is a victory in itself — but the real battle starts now. Tu Hai Meri Kiran opens on one of the most crowded Fridays of the year, jostling for screens with Udta Teer, Doosra, Little Thomas, Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar and several others. Screens and prime show timings will flow to the titles that open strongest, so the film’s first two days are effectively its audition for the rest of the week. The unresolved question — how exactly the internal settlement squares with the court’s deposit order — may also return; legal disputes of this kind have a habit of resurfacing in arbitration, and the film’s revenue is likely being watched closely by both sides. For now, though, the focus shifts to where it belongs: whether audiences take to Sonakshi and Zaheer’s darker romance.
