Bollywood on Red Alert: Akshay Kumar Fits Bulletproof Windows, Ranbir Kapoor Tightens Security After Fresh Bishnoi-Gang Threats
Bollywood is on high alert. Following fresh threats allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, several of the industry’s biggest names are strengthening their security arrangements — and two of the most prominent among them have taken concrete steps this week.
According to reports carried by 123Telugu on Friday morning, Akshay Kumar has installed bulletproof windows at his Mumbai bungalow, while security arrangements around Ranbir Kapoor have been significantly tightened. Several prominent celebrities are reviewing their protection as alleged gang-related warnings create anxiety across the industry.
The development follows the investigation into the October 18 firing incident involving Tiger Shroff, which triggered a wider probe into the shooters’ movements. According to reports citing police sources, the accused allegedly conducted a recce of Ranbir Kapoor’s Bandra residence, initially planned to target Salman Khan but dropped the plan because of the heavy security outside his home, and had Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan on their target list. An audio recording in which gang members allegedly took responsibility for the attack on Tiger Shroff surfaced earlier in the week, and Mumbai Police have made multiple arrests — including four accused held in Delhi, two of them women, and three primary accused arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, who were reportedly trying to leave the country.
Ranbir’s situation carries particular weight because he is in the middle of Ramayana: Part One’s nationwide promotional campaign ahead of the film’s November 5 release. A fan-shared post defending him against online backlash, noting he continued his public appearances despite being aware of the threats, was liked by Alia Bhatt.
What makes this wave of threats different from the industry’s earlier security scares is how specifically the protection measures are being upgraded — bulletproof windows are not PR, they are infrastructure, which suggests the assessments feeding these decisions are serious. For Ranbir, the timing could not be more delicate: Ramayana is Indian cinema’s biggest-ever theatrical bet, and its pre-release campaign depends on him being physically present in public spaces across the country. The makers will now have to balance maximum visibility with maximum security, a combination that usually means fewer unscripted appearances and more controlled events. For Akshay, the move follows a pattern — he has historically been among the stars who take threat assessments at face value rather than playing them down. The broader question the industry now faces is whether this becomes a permanent shift in how stars live and promote their films, or whether the threat recedes once the investigation concludes.
