Ramayana’s ‘Mangal Rang’ Out Now: Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Rama-Sita Love Song Arrives in Five Languages

The world of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has a new song, and it is the film’s most tender musical moment yet. ‘Mangal Rang’, released on Sunday, October 25, puts Lord Rama and Maa Sita at the centre of the frame, tracing their journey from the grandeur of their wedding to the quiet intimacy of their life beyond Ayodhya. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, the song arrives just 11 days before the epic opens in cinemas on November 5.

The visuals move through the film’s most emotional beats. There are sweeping palace settings and expansive landscapes, glimpses of the couple’s wedding celebrations, and scenes from their Vanvas that trade spectacle for closeness. Rama is also seen with his bow and arrow and sword, a reminder that this love story unfolds inside an epic of duty and war. The song’s arc — from celebration to exile — mirrors the arc of the first part itself, which follows Rama and Sita from Ayodhya into the forest.

The musical team is the film’s heaviest hitters. A. R. Rahman has composed the song, with Dr. Kumar Vishwas writing the Hindi lyrics and Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal lending their voices to the Hindi version. True to the film’s pan-India release plan, ‘Mangal Rang’ has been released simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, each with its own singers and lyricists — Abhay Jodhpurkar and Saindhavi in Tamil, Raghav Kaushik and Vaishali Samant in Telugu, Armaan Malik and Bela Shende in Kannada, and Naresh Iyer and Amritha Rajan in Malayalam.

Here is the Filmverse take: after weeks of selling Ramayana on scale — the trailer, the IMAX ticket rush, the advance-booking frenzy — ‘Mangal Rang’ is a deliberate change of register, and a smart one. Spectacle gets audiences into seats on day one; a wedding song gets them emotionally invested in the couple, and it is the kind of track that can live on playlists and at real weddings long after the opening weekend. Pairing Rahman with Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal is also a statement of intent: this is not background music for a trailer, it is a bid for the year’s defining film song. If ‘Mangal Rang’ catches on the way the campaign clearly hopes it will, it could do for Ramayana what a great love song has always done for epics — make the mythology feel personal.
