Ramayana Advance Booking Explodes: 1.79 Lakh Tickets Sold, ₹7.93 Crore Gross 12 Days Before Release

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is turning its advance booking window into a box-office event of its own. With 12 days still to go before the film’s worldwide release on November 5, day-1 advance sales have surged 58% in the last 24 hours, according to trade tracking reported by Koimoi.

As of 12:30 PM IST on October 24, the epic starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi had sold 1.79 lakh tickets across 4,335 shows, collecting ₹7.93 crore gross (excluding blocked seats) and around ₹6.70 crore net for its opening day alone. Delhi-NCR leads the charge with ₹1.66 crore gross, followed by Mumbai at ₹1.33 crore, while Bengaluru has already crossed the ₹1 crore gross mark in advance sales.

Premium formats are driving much of the frenzy. Multiplexes are reporting heavy early demand for IMAX and 3D shows in the major metros, a sign that audiences are treating the first day as an event screening rather than a routine opening. The film releases in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam, with Sony Pictures handling global distribution outside India, and the Hindi version accounting for the bulk of early sales.

The numbers arrive in a week when the film’s campaign has barely paused for breath. The trailer lit up Times Square in New York, the music by A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer was unveiled at a grand Chennai event, and the film is set for a world premiere at Los Angeles’ Academy Museum on October 27 — nine days before it reaches Indian screens.

Here is the Filmverse take: advance booking this far out is a measure of intent, not a verdict, but the shape of these numbers matters more than the headline total. When premium-format shows in three metros cross ₹1 crore each nearly two weeks early, it tells exhibitors to hold screens and tells fence-sitters that opening weekend will be a crowd, not a gamble. The real test now is the Hindi heartland and the southern markets, where Yash’s draw should push the Kannada and Telugu versions harder as more shows open. If the current pace holds into the final week, Ramayana will not just open big — it will open with the kind of pre-sold momentum that lets a film survive mixed word of mouth. That is exactly why the next update, not this one, is the number to watch.
