Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan Reunite for Ladaku, Locks June 18, 2027 Release
Kartik Aaryan is reuniting with director Kabir Khan for a new film titled Ladaku, with Birla Studios announcing on Wednesday, November 4, that the film will release worldwide on June 18, 2027. The announcement pairs one of Bollywood’s busiest stars with the filmmaker behind one of the most acclaimed performances of his career, and it gives the project a prime summer date more than nineteen months in advance.
Ladaku is produced by Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios and Kabir Khan Entertainment, and it also marks Kartik Aaryan’s debut as a producer through his banner Dopamine Studios. The makers describe the film as a heart-tugging, inspiring story rooted in ambition, grit and hope, drawn from extraordinary real-life events. Reports have linked the story to Kashmiri kickboxer Tajamul Islam, who became a world kickboxing champion at the age of seven, with Kartik reportedly playing her coach — though the makers have not officially confirmed the specific real-life inspiration.
The reunion follows Chandu Champion (2024), Kabir Khan’s biographical sports drama about Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, which won Kartik his first National Film Award for Best Actor, presented in September 2026. Khan’s filmography — from Bajrangi Bhaijaan to 83 — has consistently mixed spectacle with stories of individuals overcoming odds, and Ladaku is positioned as an emotional family entertainer in that mould. Kartik, notably, has no theatrical release in 2026, and reports suggest he will have three releases in the first half of 2027, including Naagzilla and Anurag Basu’s love saga alongside Ladaku.
Here is the Filmverse take: locking June 18, 2027, this early is a statement of intent — Birla Studios is planting its flag on a summer date before a single frame has been shot. But the more interesting move is Kartik’s: turning producer on his own starring vehicle, with heavyweight partners, is how a star stops renting his career and starts owning it. And if the Tajamul Islam inspiration is confirmed, Kabir Khan gets a coach-and-prodigy story with a child athlete at its centre — a different, more tender register than Chandu Champion’s solo triumph, and one that could travel far beyond the sports-biopic crowd.
