Jailer 2 OTT Release: Rajinikanth Blockbuster Heads to Prime Video on November 12 With Reported 30 Minutes of Extra Footage

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is heading to streaming, and the digital version may offer considerably more than audiences saw in theatres. Multiple reports put the film’s Amazon Prime Video premiere on November 12, 2026 — four weeks after its theatrical release on October 15 — with the film also expected to be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Some reports have also linked Sun NXT to the digital release, though Amazon Prime Video is the platform named most consistently.

The detail driving the buzz is the reported extended cut. According to a report by News18 Tamil, cited by Pinkvilla and other outlets, the OTT version could run around 30 minutes longer than the theatrical cut, restoring scenes that were trimmed before release. The additional footage is said to include extended sequences featuring Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan, and reports suggest Santhanam’s track — believed to have been edited out of the cinema version — could also be restored. Crucially, neither the makers nor the streaming platform has officially confirmed the extended cut or the exact premiere date, so both should be treated as reports until an official announcement arrives.

The streaming debut follows a historic theatrical run. Jailer 2 has crossed Rs 816.90 crore worldwide after 20 days in theatres, becoming the first Tamil film in history to enter the Rs 800-crore club, and the film’s digital rights were reportedly acquired by Amazon Prime Video in a deal worth Rs 160 crore. The four-week theatrical-to-OTT window is in line with the agreement reported between the makers and the platform. Here is the Filmverse take: the extended cut, if it materialises, is the smartest possible second act for Jailer 2. A Rs 800-crore film does not need an OTT release to find an audience — it needs a reason for the audience that already saw it to come back, and 30 minutes of unseen footage featuring four of Indian cinema’s biggest names is exactly that reason. The caution is the word “reported”: until Sun Pictures or Prime Video confirms the longer cut, fans should treat it as a strong rumour rather than a promise. Either way, November 12 is the date to circle.
