Sreeleela Joins Rajinikanth’s Dharman as Makers Welcome Her With Special Promo
Sreeleela has officially joined the cast of Rajinikanth’s Dharman. Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International announced the casting on Wednesday, November 4, with a special welcome video and the caption, “She’s got the spark. She’s got the pataka. Welcoming the gorgeous Sreeleela to Dharman.” The announcement marks the first collaboration between Sreeleela and the Superstar, and it adds another major name to one of Tamil cinema’s most anticipated productions.
Sreeleela made her Tamil debut earlier this year with Parasakthi, co-starring Sivakarthikeyan, and she has since signed a run of Tamil projects, including Dhanush and Mammootty’s Om and Ajith Kumar’s Daredevil. Dharman is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu — known for Oh My Kadavule (2020) and Dragon (2025) — and it is his first film with Rajinikanth. The ensemble already features Nayanthara, announced in late October in what is her sixth collaboration with Rajinikanth, alongside Simran, Raashii Khanna and Yogi Babu, while Ram Pothineni is reportedly in line to play the main antagonist, though that casting remains unconfirmed.
Rajinikanth reportedly plays a stylish doctor in the film, a character the makers describe as a “Ketta Paiyan” — a nod to his role in the 1978 classic Mullum Malarum — and recently released posters showing him with blood on his hands have hinted at a grey-shaded turn. The film wrapped its third shooting schedule in late September and is produced by Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran of Turmeric Media, with music by Anirudh Ravichander, who continues his long run with Rajinikanth after Petta, Darbar, Jailer, Vettaiyan, Coolie and Jailer 2. Reports suggest the film is eyeing an April 2027 theatrical debut, with shooting expected to wrap by November 2026. Here is the Filmverse take: the casting pattern is telling the production’s story. Adding Nayanthara and then Sreeleela this late in the shoot suggests Dharman is being assembled as a full ensemble event rather than a one-man showcase, and for Sreeleela, a Rajinikanth film within a year of her Tamil debut is the fastest consolidation a young star can ask for. The bolder bet is the image itself: a doctor with blood on his hands is the most provocative Rajinikanth positioning in years, and if Ashwath Marimuthu lands that grey shade, Dharman could be the rare Superstar film that surprises rather than simply satisfies.
