Udta Teer Day 12 Box Office: Rs 65.41 Crore Worldwide as Ayushmann Khurrana’s Spy Comedy Jumps 18.5% on Tuesday
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer has bounced back on its second Tuesday, collecting Rs 1.60 crore net in India on Day 12 (Tuesday, November 3), up 18.5 per cent from Day 11’s Rs 1.35 crore net. The film played 4,980 shows on Tuesday at 14 per cent occupancy, and a second-Tuesday rise is a rare sight in a run — most films keep sliding through the second week rather than growing midweek. All figures are trade estimates, from Sacnilk.
The Tuesday addition takes the film’s India net total to Rs 45.05 crore after 12 days, with the domestic gross at Rs 53.66 crore. Overseas markets added Rs 25 lakh on Tuesday, taking the overseas gross to Rs 11.75 crore, and the worldwide gross now stands at Rs 65.41 crore. That leaves the film Rs 4.59 crore short of the Rs 70 crore worldwide mark, a milestone that looked distant during its soft first weekdays but is now genuinely in reach. Advance bookings for Day 13 were also encouraging: by 5 AM IST on Wednesday, November 4, the film had sold 67,149 advance tickets worth Rs 1.11 crore for its next day.
The run so far explains why a Tuesday jump matters here. Udta Teer opened at Rs 4.10 crore net in India on Friday, October 23, then found its audience slowly rather than all at once — its second Sunday (Day 10) collected Rs 4.35 crore net, actually beating its opening day. The film is written and directed by Aakash A. Kaushik and produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, with Khurrana playing an amnesiac Pakistani spy who wakes up believing he is a patriotic Indian counter-terrorism officer, and Sara Ali Khan as the female lead. Here is the Filmverse take: a comedy that grows on its second Tuesday has something most openers do not — people who watched it are sending other people. The Rs 70 crore worldwide mark is now a matter of days, not weeks, if the weekday base holds. The danger is the same one facing every holdover this week: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana arrives on November 5 and will take screens and attention everywhere, so Udta Teer’s next test is not its audience but its show count. If it keeps even a modest screen presence through the Ramayana opening weekend, its slow-and-steady run could become one of the more quietly successful Hindi runs of the season.
