Ramayana Mumbai Premiere: Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor Cheer Ranbir Kapoor as First Reactions Call It a Blockbuster
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One received its star-studded Mumbai send-off on Tuesday night, November 3, with a special screening at an IMAX theatre in Lower Parel, two days before the film’s theatrical release on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Alia Bhatt arrived in a sea-blue saree paired with a heavily embellished halterneck blouse, alongside her mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor in a contemporary brown co-ord, to cheer for Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama.
Ranbir Kapoor himself arrived in a maroon kurta teamed with black trousers, greeting photographers with folded hands. Sunny Deol, who essays Lord Hanuman, attended in an all-white suit with a sky-blue shirt, and one of the evening’s most-shared moments was Ravie Dubey, who plays Lakshman, warmly greeting Deol and seeking his blessing. Also spotted were Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh with Jackky Bhagnani, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta, Nitesh Tiwari with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Soni Razdan and Shaheen Bhatt.
The first reactions from inside the screening have set social media alight. YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani wrote that “Ramayana is a blockbuster of truly epic proportions, delivering some of the absolute best action set pieces Indian cinema has ever seen”, praising Tiwari’s direction and calling the casting “perfection”, with a special mention for Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and saying he was sobbing after the Jatayu fight scene while urging audiences to watch on the biggest screen possible. Ajinkya Deo, posting during the interval, called it “a grand film” and “an experience, not a movie”. These are reactions from invited guests, not independent reviews, and a media screening is scheduled in Mumbai on November 4. Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Part Two is slated for Diwali 2027. Here is the Filmverse take: a premiere like this is a coronation before the coronation — the family turnout, the folded hands and the blessing sought on camera all tell the audience that this film matters to the people who made it. The early reactions are encouraging, but they come from a room full of well-wishers, so the honest reading is narrower: the film has landed with its first audience, and its craft and casting have impressed the people most inclined to love it. The real verdict arrives on Thursday, when paying audiences — who have already bought more than Rs 100 crore in advance bookings worldwide — decide whether the epic matches its own occasion.
