Taran Adarsh Calls “Alpha” a “Beautiful Body Without a Soul”; Says Weak Story Let Down Alia-Sharvari Starrer
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has delivered a sharp retrospective verdict on Alpha, Yash Raj Films’ female-led spy film starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, calling it “a beautiful body without a soul” in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama published today.
Adarsh acknowledged the film’s technical polish but blamed its storytelling. “It was like a beautiful body without a soul. Alpha… was a very well-made film — in terms of its technical and visual aspects. But when your story is weak, it brings me back to the same point. While watching the film, I became restless,” he said, adding that his disappointment was visible on his face as he walked out of the preview screening.
The analyst contrasted his reaction with Saiyaara from the same studio, saying he had walked out of that film “with a smile and a glow” on his face. Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail with a story by Uday Chopra, was the Spy Universe’s first female-led entry and carried heavy expectations from both the studio and the audience.
The film, which also featured Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and a Hrithik Roshan cameo, released on July 3, 2026 and drew sharply divided responses.
