Suriya’s Scene Gets U/A Certification Ahead of November 6 Diwali Release
Suriya’s upcoming film Scene has cleared the censor board. The Tamil feature has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), according to certification documents issued by the board’s Chennai regional office on October 27, 2026, and confirmed by the production house on October 28. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, 2026, in the Diwali festival window.
The certification also confirms the film’s length: Scene runs for 149.16 minutes, or approximately two hours and 29 minutes. Zhagaram Studios shared the news on October 28 with a promotional poster highlighting the certification alongside the confirmed release date, the final formal step before a film that has been building its campaign through the autumn can lock its release-week plans.
Scene is directed by Jithu Madhavan, in his first foray into Tamil cinema after his work in the Malayalam film industry. It stars Suriya alongside Nazriya Nazim and Naslen, with a supporting cast that includes Anandraj, Lal and Raj Priyan. The film is produced by Jyotika and Suriya under Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment, with Jaishree Damodaran as co-producer. The technical team includes cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, editor Ajmal Sabu and music composer Sushin Shyam, who is making his debut in Tamil cinema with this score, along with audiography by Vishnu Govind, production design by Ashwini Kale, action choreography by Chethan D’Souza and Tamil dialogues by Dravid Selvam.
The campaign has run since the title teaser on September 9, with a Naslen character teaser on October 22 and a #SceneLiveInDubai event at Silicon Central Mall in Dubai on October 25, where Suriya’s character teaser premiered. An earlier glimpse showed Suriya as DSP Inbaraj, a cheerful officer who uses his own methods on a case set during the COVID-19 outbreak, with Naslen as Eeswaran closing it with the line “Innum Mudiyala” — “It isn’t over yet.”
Here is the Filmverse take: a U/A 16+ certificate this close to release is a signal about the film’s intended audience. Scene is not being sold as a family Diwali outing for all ages; it is positioned for teenagers and adults, which fits a police story built around a cheerful but unconventional officer. With the certificate in hand and the runtime locked, the question before November 6 is whether the film’s tone, comic on the surface and serious underneath, holds together for two and a half hours.
Scene releases in cinemas worldwide on November 6, 2026.
