Scene Day 2 Box Office: Suriya Film Heads for Rs 18–20 Crore Saturday, Crosses Rs 30 Crore in India

Suriya’s Diwali entertainer is holding up on its second day. Scene, the Tamil action-comedy directed by Jithu Madhavan, collected Rs 19.15 crore net in India on its opening day and is heading for a strong Saturday, with live tracking pointing to a Day 2 total of around Rs 18–20 crore.

The pre-sales set it up. Scene registered Rs 9.71 crore gross in advance bookings for Day 2, selling 5.61 lakh tickets — only slightly below its record Day 1 advance of Rs 11.04 crore — and grossed over Rs 5 crore from morning shows alone, according to Koimoi. BoxOfficeIndia24’s noon update put Day 2 at Rs 12.10 crore net so far, projecting a full-day total of Rs 17.75 crore net and a cumulative India total of Rs 30.10 crore, at 40.4 per cent occupancy across 1,201 theatres. TrackTollywood, tracking live gross, reports Rs 8.48 crore already booked for Sunday’s shows. All figures are live trade estimates; final Day 2 numbers arrive tonight.

The Tamil version remains the engine: Tamil Nadu leads the state-wise split at Rs 6.71 crore, with Chennai the top city at Rs 2.86 crore. The gap with its Diwali rival is now a gulf. Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2, released the same day, has managed only around Rs 53 lakh net on Day 2 so far, taking its two-day India total to roughly Rs 2.41 crore — against Scene’s Rs 30 crore. The clash, for now, is not a contest.

The context matters for Suriya. Scene is his third release of 2026, after Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons, and its Day 1 advance bookings were already the biggest of his career, passing Kanguva. Koimoi notes that to beat his best Day 2 of the year — Vishwanath & Sons’ Rs 22.25 crore — Scene would need more than Rs 24.15 crore, which looks out of reach. But that is a high bar: a Rs 18–20 crore Saturday after a Rs 19.15 crore opening is a healthy hold for a film sharing screens with Ramayana, and the positive first reactions suggest word of mouth is working in its favour.
