Hanuman Ansh Budget Revealed: How a Rs 2.95 Crore Devotional Film Became a Rs 449.67 Crore Blockbuster
The most improbable success story of 2026 just got its most improbable number. The producer of Hanuman Ansh has broken down the film’s economics, revealing that the devotional drama — now sitting on a worldwide gross of Rs 449.67 crore — cost just Rs 2.95 crore to make, according to a Sacnilk report published October 19.
That is a return of more than 150 times the production cost, a multiple no star-driven spectacle in recent memory has come close to touching. The producer also disclosed that Rs 1.25 crore of the budget came from Haldiram’s, the snacks giant, whose backing covered nearly half the film’s cost — a reminder that the film’s money trail is as unconventional as its box-office run.
Released on August 7, Vishal Chaturvedi’s spiritual drama stars Shobhinaw Satyaa and Vihaan Shedge and tells the story of Shri Neeb Karori Baba, the revered saint, adapted from the book Divine Detour. It carried no A-list star, no franchise, no VFX arms race — just faith-driven word of mouth that turned a niche devotional release into a pan-India phenomenon. In mid-October it recorded its 50th day with collections above Rs 1 crore gross, joining an elite club that includes Gadar, Kantara and Dhurandhar.
And it is still climbing. In its 11th weekend the film earned Rs 95 lakh net — a steep drop from its peak, but enough to move within Rs 57 lakh of overtaking Border 2 as 2026’s second-highest Bollywood grosser worldwide. For a film made for less than the catering budget of most mid-size productions, every additional lakh now is pure history.
The Hanuman Ansh phenomenon has already rewritten a few industry assumptions: that devotional cinema has a ceiling, that a blockbuster needs a star, and that a Rs 3 crore film cannot outrun a Rs 100 crore one. The producer’s breakdown only sharpens the lesson. In a year of Rs 550-crore grossers and record-breaking epics, the film with the most astonishing economics of all cost less than a luxury apartment in Bandra.
Note: All box-office figures are trade estimates (Sacnilk-tracked) and may be revised as official data comes in.
