Ahan Shetty’s Sanki Goes on Floors in Bhopal on October 30, Pooja Hegde Co-Stars in Action Drama
Ahan Shetty’s much-anticipated film Sanki is set to begin shooting in Bhopal on October 30, 2026. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the action drama promises a blend of romance, emotion and intense action sequences, with Pooja Hegde playing the female lead opposite Shetty. The film is slated for a theatrical release in the first half of 2027.
According to Daily Kiran, Desai — known for films like Rustom and Mission Raniganj — has already arrived in Bhopal with the production team to finalise shooting preparations. Details about the plot remain under wraps, with more information expected to be revealed in the coming months. MovieTalkies reports that the makers have not yet announced the remaining cast members or released a first look. The film is being produced by We The People, Roaring River Productions and Pals & Peers Entertainment.
The title itself carries a small industry story. Reports suggest Sanki was previously registered by producer Sajid Nadiadwala for another project, and when Shetty expressed interest in using it for his second film, he chose to approach Nadiadwala directly rather than going through intermediaries. The matter was resolved amicably, with Nadiadwala allowing Shetty to use the title — a gesture that reflects the good relationship between the two and the Shetty family.
Shetty made his Bollywood debut with Tadap and was recently seen in Border 2, where he portrayed Lieutenant Commander Mahendra Singh Rawat, a brave officer in the Indian Navy. Sanki is therefore his first full-fledged outing as a romantic action lead since his debut, and the Bhopal schedule marks the moment it stops being an announcement and starts being a film.
Here is the Filmverse take: Sanki’s real test begins now, because announcements are cheap and shoots are not. Shetty has spent the years since Tadap building credibility in ensemble and supporting parts, and Border 2 gave him exactly the kind of disciplined, uniformed screen presence that suits an action drama. But a film called Sanki — mad, obsessive, unhinged — will be judged on whether its hero has a personality, not just a physique. Pairing him with Hegde, who brings mainstream gloss and dance-floor ease, suggests the makers want romance to carry as much weight as action, and Desai’s track record with grounded, real-world stories suggests the action will be staged rather than merely exploded. If the Bhopal schedule delivers a first look with real attitude, Sanki could quietly become one of 2027’s more interesting young-star bets.
