Scene Day 3 Box Office Live: Suriya Film Crosses Rs 50 Crore in India, Sunday Set for Rs 25 Crore-Plus
Suriya’s Scene has crossed Rs 50 crore net in India — on its third day, and on a Sunday spent sharing the Diwali weekend with the Ramayana juggernaut. BoxOfficeIndia24’s live tracker puts the film’s Day 3 collection at Rs 15.75 crore net by the afternoon update, taking the running India net total to Rs 53.90 crore, with the day projected to close near Rs 25.89 crore net, in a range of Rs 24.60 crore to Rs 27.19 crore.
The advance booking had already pointed to a big Sunday. The film sold 6.57 lakh tickets in advance for Day 3, worth Rs 11.42 crore gross according to Koimoi, while BoxOfficeIndia24’s fuller count — including blocked seats — put the advance at Rs 15.85 crore gross from 7.29 lakh tickets across 5,937 shows. Tamil Nadu leads the day’s business with Rs 10.12 crore, followed by Kerala at Rs 3.21 crore, and Chennai is the top city at Rs 3.32 crore. At 2 PM, the day’s gross stood at Rs 18.82 crore from 10.92 lakh tickets.
The comparison with Suriya’s own recent history is now firmly in Scene’s favour. His previous blockbuster Karuppu collected Rs 39.65 crore net in its first two days; Scene stood at Rs 39.40 crore at the same point, a whisker behind — but a Sunday of around Rs 26 crore takes its three-day total past Rs 65 crore and puts Karuppu’s pace firmly in the rear-view mirror. The film has already crossed Rs 81.50 crore worldwide in two days, and the Sunday surge should take that past Rs 100 crore.
There is also significant news beyond the box office. The Daily Jagran reports that Netflix has acquired Scene’s digital rights for a reported Rs 88 crore, with the film expected to debut on the platform in early December after a standard four-week theatrical window. Against a reported budget of around Rs 60 crore, that non-theatrical deal alone changes the film’s economics — and it explains why the trade is treating Scene as a success story rather than a film squeezed by a bigger release. Holding its own against Ramayana was the test; crossing Rs 50 crore in three days while doing it is the answer.
