Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan Steal the Show at Manish Malhotra’s Diwali Bash

Manish Malhotra’s annual Diwali bash once again became Bollywood’s most glamorous evening of the festive season, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s joint appearance the most talked-about moment of the night. The designer hosted the star-studded celebration at his Mumbai residence on Thursday evening, November 5.

Aishwarya and Abhishek arrived hand-in-hand and posed together for the paparazzi, instantly setting social media abuzz. Aishwarya looked radiant in a traditional red saree with an elaborate golden border and intricate detailing, completing the look with statement jewellery, matching bangles and red lipstick. Abhishek complemented her in a sophisticated black embroidered ethnic outfit. The couple smiled for the cameras and shared warm moments during their arrival, and photographs and videos of the two quickly became the most-shared images from the celebration.

They were far from the only headline couple of the evening. Kareena Kapoor Khan arrived with husband Saif Ali Khan, dazzling in a shimmering golden sequinned saree while Saif kept it classic in a navy-blue kurta. Akshay Kumar made a rare family appearance with wife Twinkle Khanna and son Aarav Bhatia, the three of them in coordinated ivory outfits — Akshay in an embroidered sherwani, Twinkle in a stylish sharara set and Aarav in a short kurta with wide-leg trousers.

The fashion parade ran deep. Kajol arrived with daughter Nysa Devgan, while Madhuri Dixit attended with husband Dr Shriram Nene, giving her pink saree a contemporary spin with a matching corset blouse. Janhvi Kapoor chose a striking fishtail lehenga, Disha Patani an elegant white saree, and Ananya Panday a dazzling silver lehenga. Sara Ali Khan wore an intricately embellished red lehenga, joined by brother Ibrahim Ali Khan, while Suhana Khan opted for a brocade lehenga and Kriti Sanon a pastel-blue kurti. Sonakshi Sinha looked striking in a deep maroon velvet co-ord set with husband Zaheer Iqbal in a light grey kurta.

Karan Johar, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha, Sonali Bendre and Shalini Passi were among the other familiar faces, rounding out a guest list spanning generations of the industry.

Manish Malhotra’s Diwali gathering has become a fixed point in Bollywood’s festive calendar — the evening when the industry’s biggest names turn up in their finest traditional wear. This year, though, the evening belonged to one arrival. Aishwarya and Abhishek’s hand-in-hand appearance, in perfectly matched festive looks, was the image that travelled furthest — a reminder that in a season of noise, a simple, elegant joint appearance still stops the scroll.
