Jailer 2 Day 19 Box Office: Rs 812 Crore Worldwide as Rajinikanth’s Blockbuster Nears Rs 460 Crore Net in India
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed Rs 812 crore worldwide after 19 days in theatres, adding Rs 3.40 crore net in India on Day 19 (Monday, November 2). The Monday figure is a 69.6 per cent drop from Sunday’s Rs 11.20 crore net, the usual weekday fall after a strong third weekend, but it is enough to take the film’s India net total to Rs 459.70 crore and its domestic gross to Rs 537.75 crore. Overseas markets added Rs 75 lakh on Monday, taking the overseas gross to Rs 274.25 crore, and the worldwide gross now stands at Rs 812 crore. All figures are trade estimates.
The language break-up shows how broad the run remains. On Day 19, Tamil contributed Rs 2.20 crore net, Hindi Rs 60 lakh, Telugu Rs 43 lakh and Kannada Rs 17 lakh, across 7,995 shows. Cumulatively, Tamil leads with Rs 318.70 crore net in India, followed by Telugu at Rs 84.58 crore, Hindi at Rs 48.65 crore and Kannada at Rs 7.77 crore. Week one delivered Rs 334.35 crore net, week two Rs 95.55 crore, and the third week so far (days 16 to 19) has added Rs 29.80 crore.
Jailer 2 is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, with music by Anirudh Ravichander. Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian alongside Ramya Krishnan, S. J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, with special appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi. The film released in theatres on October 15 and became the first Tamil film ever to cross Rs 800 crore worldwide on Day 18, as reported here: https://filmverse.in/jailer-2-crosses-800-crore-worldwide-first-tamil-film/
Here is the Filmverse take: the Rs 812 crore total matters more than the Monday drop, because the drop was already priced into the film’s third-week story — what the trade watches now is whether the film can hold a respectable weekday base through the Ramayana storm arriving on November 5. The Rs 1,000 crore question is now arithmetic rather than hope: at roughly Rs 3 to 4 crore a day on weekdays, the film would need a long, screen-protected tail to get there, and Ramayana will take premium screens everywhere. Even if it falls short of that round number, Jailer 2 has already done the historic thing — it put Tamil cinema into a club no Tamil film had ever entered — and every crore from here is a new record for the industry it leads.
