King First Song Tu Mil Jaaye Out: SRK and Deepika Reunite, Arijit Singh and Ed Sheeran Collaborate

Shah Rukh Khan marked his 61st birthday on Monday, November 2, by releasing Tu Mil Jaaye, the first song from his upcoming action entertainer King. The track, which arrived at midnight, reunites Khan with Deepika Padukone on screen and pairs Indian playback singer Arijit Singh with British pop star Ed Sheeran in a global musical collaboration.

The song is composed by Sachin-Jigar, with Hindi lyrics by Kumaar, vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, and an English rap written and performed by Ed Sheeran. Piyush-Shazia have choreographed the video. It is available on streaming platforms, with the official music video on the T-Series and Zee Music Company YouTube channels.

The video opens with Khan delivering an intense dialogue — “Main qaatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashooka, aur woh aashiq hi kya jo dil cheer na de” — before moving into a romantic track built around Khan and Padukone on beaches, getaways and in cafes, cut with action sequences. It closes with another fierce line from Khan: “Iss baar dil mein aag lagi hai, ab duniya jalaye bina manega nahi.” The birthday release also came with Mannat lit up with King visuals, even as Khan skipped his usual midnight appearance outside his Bandra home, which is currently under renovation.

Early fan reaction has been mixed, with some listeners praising the SRK-Deepika pairing and the Arijit-Sheeran combination, while others on Reddit compared the track to Jhoome Jo Pathaan from Pathaan and found it less instantly catchy. That split is worth noting, because a first song for a Christmas release is expected to set the campaign’s tone, not just please existing fans.

Here is the Filmverse take: releasing a love song first, rather than a teaser or an action trailer, is a deliberate choice for a film sold so far as an action thriller. It tells audiences that King is built around a romance as much as around its underworld, and it leans on the most bankable pairing in the cast to carry that message. The Arijit-Sheeran pairing is the real headline for the music campaign — a cross-border collaboration of this scale is rare for a Hindi film song, and it gives King a talking point beyond its star cast. If the song grows on repeat listening, as romantic tracks often do, the mixed first reactions will matter little by December. King is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. It stars Khan alongside Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal, and releases in cinemas worldwide on December 24, 2026.
