Ranabaali Day 8 Box Office: Vijay Deverakonda’s Period Drama Holds Steady, Crosses Rs 43 Crore

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s period action drama Ranabaali is holding its ground in its second week. According to live trade estimates, the film collected an estimated Rs 1.71 crore net in India on day 8 (Friday, October 23), taking its cumulative India net total to Rs 43.34 crore.

The day-8 numbers show a film settling into a steady weekday rhythm: Rs 1.97 crore gross from 1,18,582 tickets across 1,472 shows at 21.9% occupancy. Telangana remains the film’s strongest territory with Rs 1.07 crore on the day, and Hyderabad the top city. The day-wise trajectory so far — Rs 8.59 crore on day 1, Rs 7.00 crore, Rs 6.99 crore, Rs 4.93 crore, Rs 6.16 crore (the Dussehra-day bump on Tuesday), Rs 4.89 crore, Rs 3.07 crore and now Rs 1.71 crore — shows the expected post-festival taper, but no collapse.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Ranabaali is set in 19th-century Rayalaseema (1854–1878), with Deverakonda playing a rebellious warrior who rises against British colonial rule during the Great Famine. The film marks the third on-screen pairing of Deverakonda and Mandanna after Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019), with music by Ajay-Atul.

Filmverse take: Ranabaali‘s real achievement is easy to miss in the shadow of Jailer 2‘s Rs 600-crore juggernaut: it opened one day after Rajinikanth’s behemoth and has still carved out a Rs 43-crore-plus run in eight days. The Dussehra-timed release did the heavy lifting early, but the film’s 21.9% occupancy on its second Friday — against a flood of new releases today — suggests the period-drama audience is sticking around. The screenplay reportedly went through 24 drafts over three years with research from British gazettes in the Ballari archives, and that homework shows in the film’s reception among Telugu audiences. The question now is the second weekend: if Saturday and Sunday hold near Friday’s levels, Rs 50 crore is firmly in sight.
