The Vvaan Box Office: Sidharth-Tamannaah Film Falls Just Rs 60 Lakh Short of Her Entertainment Record
Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s fantasy thriller The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest is nearing the end of its theatrical run — and it looks set to miss becoming Tamannaah Bhatia’s highest-grossing Bollywood film at the Indian box office by the slimmest of margins.
According to trade estimates, The Vvaan has collected Rs 71.42 crore net in India in 27 days since its September 25 release, with an India gross of approximately Rs 84.29 crore. Tamannaah’s highest-grossing Bollywood film in India remains the 2014 comedy Entertainment, which reportedly collected Rs 72.02 crore net during its theatrical run. The gap is now roughly Rs 60 lakh — agonisingly close, but with the film earning only around Rs 7 lakh on its fourth Wednesday, the target has slipped out of reach.
The timing has been cruel. With a fresh wave of releases hitting theatres today, October 23, The Vvaan is expected to lose a significant number of shows, limiting any chance of adding substantial revenue in its final stretch. At its current total, the film stands as Tamannaah’s second-highest-grossing Bollywood film in India — ahead of Humshakals (Rs 63.72 crore) and Himmatwala (around Rs 47.45 crore).
Filmverse take: There is something almost poetic about a Rs 60-lakh miss on a Rs 72-crore target — one extra strong weekend at any point in the run would have closed it. But the numbers tell a harsher story than the near-miss headline: The Vvaan is a Rs 80-crore-budget folklore fantasy that will finish its India run around Rs 72 crore net, which means the theatrical math never really worked, record or no record. The film’s real legacy may be off the balance sheet — it proved that TVF and Balaji could mount a VFX-heavy mythological horror at genuine scale, with the “Chhathi Maiya” sequence and the forest world-building earning real affection even from critics who found the second half uneven. For Tamannaah, missing her own decade-old record by a whisker stings, but The Vvaan has done something Entertainment never did: it gave her a substantive leading role in a film people will remember.
