Shershaah secures National Film Award: Vishal Batra, the brother of Capt. Vikram Batra, describes it as a Moment of Pride.

The 69th National Film Awards were announced in Delhi today, and the winners are extremely happy. Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon both received the Best Actress Award, while Allu Arjun won Best Actor for his role in ‘Pushpa: The Rule’. The award for Best Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment went to ‘RRR’, and ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ won Best Feature Film. ‘Sardar Udham’, starring Vicky Kaushal, won Best Hindi film, and ‘Shershaah’, directed by Vishnu Vardhan and featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, received a Special Jury Award.
Director Vishnuvardhan and producer Karan Johar collaborated in 2021 to create a cinematic masterpiece that deeply resonated with the hearts of its audience. Shershaah, a film inspired by the extraordinary life of Captain Vikram Batra (portrayed by Sidharth Malhotra), who valiantly sacrificed his life on the battlefield during the Kargil War, evoked profound emotions, moving us to tears.

Today is a day to rejoice as this amazing movie has received the recognition it truly deserves. Shershaah has been honored with the Special Jury award at the 69th National Film Awards. Vishal Batra, the brother of Capt. Vikram Batra, is extremely elated and has expressed his immense happiness upon hearing this remarkable achievement.
Vishal also remembered the brave sacrifice of the 527 soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Kargil War. He expressed, “Vikram may have become a legend, but it is these 527 soldiers who have remained the unsung heroes. Shershaah also vividly captures the soldier’s life, dedicated to safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty. I am overjoyed to receive immense love and admiration from the entire nation, who wholeheartedly embraced the movie.”
Vishal also congratulated the entire team of Shershaah and appreciated Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani and Karan Johar.
Batra discussed his deceased brother, Vikram, as well as Sidharth Malhotra’s portrayal. He concluded by praising Sidharth’s remarkable performance, stating, “Vikram was a true hero, and we always hoped for an actor who could meet the high expectations set by his illustrious military career. Sidharth’s portrayal was absolutely outstanding!”
