Ramayana North America Box Office: $9 Million in 3 Days, Biggest Single Overseas Day Ever for Indian Cinema

Ramayana: Part One turned its record North American opening into a record-breaking Saturday overseas. Pinkvilla reports the Nitesh Tiwari epic collected $7.30 million (about Rs 69 crore) overseas on Saturday alone — the biggest single overseas day ever for an Indian film, passing Baahubali 2’s just-under-$7 million Saturday. The three-day overseas total is $17.45 million (about Rs 164 crore). All figures are trade estimates, not producer figures.

North America is doing the heavy lifting: the United States contributed $7,225,000 (about Rs 68 crore), Canada $1,775,000 — past $9 million in North America in under three days. Other trackers put it at $9.155 million; either way, Ramayana has passed Drishyam 3’s $6.72 million lifetime North America gross to become 2026’s second-highest-grossing Bollywood film there, behind only Dhurandhar. The records fell market by market. In the United Kingdom, Saturday’s £750,000 was the biggest single day ever for an Indian film there — about 15 per cent above the old record — and the three-day UK total is $2.20 million. In the United States, Saturday was the biggest single day ever for a Bollywood release, passing Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Canada and Australia posted the second-biggest single days ever for an Indian film, behind only Dhurandhar, while the Middle East rebounded to $1.925 million in three days and Australia reached $1.45 million. Thailand is heading for a $400,000 opening weekend and Vietnam should pass $100,000, with Indonesia opening next week.

The four-day extended weekend — Diwali falls on Sunday, November 8 — is projected at around $23 million overseas and Rs 490 crore worldwide, per Pinkvilla, which puts the worldwide gross at Rs 378 crore. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, plays in five languages, and is distributed overseas by Sony Pictures.

Here is the Filmverse take: the $7.30 million Saturday matters more than the $9 million North America total, because it is a record no Indian film had touched — not Baahubali 2, not Dhurandhar. It also shows growth beyond the North American diaspora core — the UK record, the Middle East rebound, the Southeast Asian numbers. The caution stands: Sony’s wide release and heavy spend mean the film needs a long run, not just a big weekend, and Monday — the day after Diwali — will test whether this is a four-day event or a legs story.
