Eetha Trailer: Shraddha Kapoor Brings Lavani Legend Vithabai to Life in Maddock’s December Biopic

Maddock Films has unveiled the official trailer of Eetha, the biographical drama starring Shraddha Kapoor as Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, the legendary Marathi Tamasha and Lavani performer. The trailer arrived on Friday, October 30, just over a month ahead of the film’s theatrical release on December 4, 2026, and it is the fullest look yet at Kapoor’s most performance-driven role to date.

The trailer opens up the vibrant, high-energy world of Tamasha folk theatre and follows Vithabai’s journey from modest beginnings to becoming one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated stage artists. It traces the struggles and sacrifices behind the applause: her courage in challenging societal norms, her awareness of her own worth, and the pride she carried through every setback. Alongside Kapoor, the film stars Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Siddharth Jadhav, Ishtiyak Khan and Anant Joshi. It is directed by Laxman Utekar, who previously delivered the blockbuster Chhaava, written by Kshitij Patwardhan, and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Utekar and Karishma Sharma under Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations, with music by Ajay-Atul.

Eetha has already travelled a long road to this trailer. The film was initially scheduled for an August 2026 release before being moved to December, and its teaser first reached audiences in June. Kapoor was last seen on the big screen in Stree 2 in 2024, one of the biggest Hindi hits of that year, so Eetha marks her return to cinemas after a two-year gap — and in a register far removed from franchise comedy.

Here is the Filmverse take: the trailer matters because it answers the one question the teaser could only pose — whether Kapoor can carry a rooted, character-led biopic rather than simply look the part. The Lavani sequences, the folk-stage scale and the emotional beats all suggest Utekar has aimed for a living, breathing stage drama rather than a reverent museum piece. For Maddock, the five-week trailer-to-release runway is a calculated bet: long enough for the Ajay-Atul music to travel, short enough that curiosity does not cool. If the trailer converts, Eetha could become the rare female-led musical biopic to find a mainstream audience this year.
