I’m Game on JioHotstar in Canada from Today — But Not in the USA: Where to Watch in North America
Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game begins streaming on JioHotstar today, Friday, November 6, 2026, in five languages — Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. For viewers in Canada, the news is straightforward: JioHotstar launched internationally on September 2, 2026, in the UK, Canada and Singapore, replacing the old Hotstar apps, so Canadian subscribers can watch from today. In the United States, it is different — JioHotstar is not sold in the US, and no US launch date has been announced.
For the diaspora, that split is the story of this release. JioHotstar’s first launches outside India deliberately skipped the United States, and US visitors see a region notice instead of the catalogue. An account also requires an Indian mobile number, and JioStar’s terms bar accessing the service by concealing your location. The film is Nahas Hidhayath’s Malayalam fantasy action thriller, in which Salmaan plays Dan, whose life changes after a hand transplant links him to a deceased cricketer’s consciousness. Today’s second streaming title comes with its own caveat. Priyadarshan’s Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, begins streaming on SonyLIV in India from today — and unlike JioHotstar, SonyLIV does sell subscriptions in the United States, at about $8 a month, and in Canada, where it launched in October 2021. But SonyLIV registers each account to its country of purchase, and its North American catalogues differ from the Indian one, so Haiwaan’s presence on the US and Canadian apps is unconfirmed — check the local app first. The contrast with next week’s big diaspora streaming date is sharp. Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 arrives on Prime Video on November 12 in 240-plus countries and territories, with the US and Canada getting it the same day as India, in five languages — as we reported here: https://filmverse.in/jailer-2-prime-video-usa-canada-november-12-where-to-watch/ That is the model diaspora viewers want: one date, everywhere. Until JioHotstar reaches the US, its premieres will keep arriving with an asterisk for the largest Indian audience outside India.
Here is the Filmverse take: the Canada–USA split on I’m Game shows “streaming worldwide” still means different things in Toronto and Texas. Canada got JioHotstar in September; the US did not, and JioStar has given American viewers no date to wait for. For now, Canadian fans of Dulquer Salmaan can press play tonight, American fans cannot on JioHotstar directly, and Haiwaan viewers should check their local SonyLIV catalogue first. The gap is closing — but for this weekend, it is still real.
