Haiwaan Streams on SonyLIV Today: Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Reunite After 18 Years
Priyadarshan’s Haiwaan begins streaming on SonyLIV today, Friday, November 6, 2026, bringing Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan back together on screen for the first time in 18 years. The Hindi neo-noir crime thriller is the duo’s first collaboration since Tashan (2008), and it arrives on streaming eight weeks after its theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
The film casts both stars firmly against type. Saif Ali Khan plays Shyam, a visually impaired man who becomes a murder suspect and must find the real killer to prove his innocence — and, in the trailer’s telling, to protect a young girl from the killer. Akshay Kumar plays the other side of that equation: a ruthless, unpredictable serial killer on a spree the police cannot stop. The two-minute-34-second trailer, released on August 25, builds the film as a tense cat-and-mouse chase between a blind man who refuses to be helpless and a killer who leaves no trail.
Haiwaan is an official Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which itself drew on the cat-and-mouse lineage of Cape Fear. The supporting cast includes Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Rajpal Yadav, Sharib Hashmi and Manoj Joshi, and the film is produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films. SonyLIV holds the streaming rights, and the film streams in Hindi from today.
The reunion is the headline, but the casting is the story. Akshay and Saif built their shared screen history on light, commercial entertainers — Tashan, and before that the 2000s comedies — and Haiwaan asks both of them to work in a register neither is associated with: Akshay as an unhinged antagonist, Saif as a blind protagonist whose disability is written as a skill rather than a limitation. Priyadarshan, meanwhile, returns to the thriller space after decades defined by comedy, and the Oppam template gives him a proven spine to work from.
Here is the Filmverse take: the theatrical run gave Haiwaan a quiet reception, but this is the window where a film like it actually lives. A dark, mid-budget thriller with two stars playing against type is precisely the kind of title that finds its audience on a Friday night at home rather than in an opening-weekend rush, and SonyLIV gets a marquee Hindi premiere for the Diwali week. If the film’s central duel works — a blind hero against a killer who cannot be seen coming — it could quietly become the most talked-about Hindi streaming title of the weekend.
