Udta Teer Day 10 Box Office: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Spy Comedy Nears Rs 45 Crore Net, Crosses Rs 61 Crore Worldwide

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer has held on through its second weekend, collecting Rs 4.35 crore net in India on Day 10 (second Sunday, November 1), up 8.7 per cent on its second Saturday. The film played 5,114 shows on Sunday at a steady 18 per cent occupancy, and the second-Sunday growth is notable because most films in their second week fall on the second Sunday rather than rise. All figures are trade estimates.

The Sunday addition takes Udta Teer’s India net total to Rs 42.10 crore after ten days, with the domestic gross crossing Rs 50.25 crore. Overseas markets added Rs 75 lakh on Sunday, taking the overseas gross to Rs 11.25 crore, and the worldwide gross now stands at Rs 61.50 crore. The film had opened at Rs 4.10 crore net in India on Day 1 (Friday, October 23), which makes its Day 10 figure of Rs 4.35 crore net a rare case of a film’s second Sunday beating its opening day. That pattern points to audiences discovering the film after release rather than rushing to it on day one.

Udta Teer is written and directed by Aakash A. Kaushik and produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Khurrana plays an amnesiac Pakistani spy who wakes up believing he is a patriotic Indian counter-terrorism officer, with Sara Ali Khan as the female lead, and the film blends espionage, mistaken identity and broad comedy around that mix-up. The second-weekend hold has come despite crowded screens, with Venkatesh’s Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 opening on October 30 and Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 still running strongly in its third week.

Here is the Filmverse take: a second-weekend rise is worth more than a big opening for a comedy like this, because comedies live or die on word of mouth, and a Sunday that beats Saturday in week two says the people who watched it in week one are sending others. The Rs 45 crore net mark in India is now only days away, and the film’s real test is the same one facing every holdover this week: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana arrives on November 5 and will take screens and attention. If Udta Teer can keep even a modest show count through that storm, its slow-and-steady run could become one of the more quietly successful Hindi runs of the season.
