Prabhas’s Fauzi Teaser Unveils Rebel Soldier Avatar, Moves to March 19, 2027 Release

Prabhas has unveiled the first glimpse of Fauzi, his period action drama with director Hanu Raghavapudi, and with it a new release date. The teaser, titled “File No. 25” and released over the actor’s birthday weekend — he turned 47 on October 23 — presents Prabhas as a lone rebel soldier fighting British rule in pre-independence India, closing with the line “A Battalion Who Fights Alone.” Alongside the promo, the makers confirmed that the film, earlier slated for December 3, 2026, will now release worldwide on March 19, 2027.

The teaser leans heavily on scale and myth-making. It opens in Berlin with a dramatised meeting between Subhas Chandra Bose and Adolf Hitler, in which Bose invokes Fauzi — a soldier, strategist and spy said to be singularly responsible for the Japanese capture of Singapore from Britain, and the creator of an unbreakable code based on the Bhagavad Gita. The promo then shifts to Prabhas himself: rugged, battle-worn, and framed as India’s greatest rebel soldier, wanted since 1932. Directed by Raghavapudi, best known for Sita Ramam, the film is backed by Mythri Movie Makers and T-Series Films, with Imanvi as the female lead and Mithun Chakraborty, Jaya Prada and Anupam Kher in the cast.

The response has been enthusiastic from fans — and not without controversy. Some viewers have criticised the teaser’s handling of a revered historical figure and questioned elements of the promo, with the production yet to issue a substantive public reply.

Here is the Filmverse take: moving Fauzi out of December is the most important decision in this announcement, and probably the right one. A December 3 release would have thrown a still-finishing historical epic into the slipstream of Ramayana and the Christmas corridor; March 19, 2027 gives the film room to be an event on its own terms, and gives Raghavapudi — a director whose strength is emotion more than spectacle — time to make the history feel human rather than just large. The teaser itself raises the question the film must answer: whether Fauzi treats the freedom struggle as a backdrop for a star vehicle, or as a story with real stakes.
