GV Prakash and Kayadu Lohar’s Immortal Sets SonyLIV Premiere on October 30
The supernatural love story at the heart of Immortal is about to get its second life. GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar’s romantic horror film will premiere on SonyLIV on October 30, 2026, following its theatrical release on September 4, 2026. SonyLIV announced the date, teasing the film as an immortal love story set in a new world: ‘Oru pudhu ulagam… Oru IMMORTAL kadhal!’
Directed by Mariyappan Chinna and produced by Arunkumar Dhanasekaran under AK Film Factory, Immortal is a genre-blending film that begins a thousand years in the past, with the birth of a child possessing supernatural traits — an event that sets an ancient evil in motion. The story then shifts to present-day Chennai, where Magi, a printing-press employee played by GV Prakash, is hunting for affordable housing. He meets Sindhu, played by Kayadu Lohar, who offers him a room in her upscale apartment at a surprisingly low rent.
What starts as a convenient arrangement turns unsettling. As Magi and Sindhu grow closer, he notices strange occurrences and behaviour that suggest Sindhu is not what she seems. The film’s central tension is the conflict between Sindhu’s growing romantic feelings for Magi and her predatory instincts as a supernatural being who lures men into her world to feed on them — a premise that lets the film play as romance and horror in the same breath.
The October 30 date places Immortal in a busy streaming corridor, arriving the same week as several other South Indian titles hitting OTT. For a film whose theatrical run was modest, the SonyLIV premiere is the real test of its premise.
Here is the Filmverse take: Immortal is exactly the kind of film streaming was made for. Its premise — a cheap room, a beautiful stranger, a supernatural catch — is a word-of-mouth premise, not a first-weekend premise, and it never had the marketing muscle to explain that tonal mix in a theatrical trailer window. On SonyLIV, the barrier to sampling it drops to zero, and the film’s real strength — the uncomfortable question of whether Sindhu’s love redeems her or merely makes her more dangerous — gets to play out in living rooms, where horror-romance hybrids have historically found their audiences. The risk for SonyLIV is discoverability in a crowded week, but for viewers who like their romance with a dark twist, this is the most intriguing Tamil OTT arrival of the week, and the one most likely to be recommended by a friend rather than an algorithm.
