AA23 Is On Track: Lokesh Kanagaraj Shuts Down Shelved Rumours, Promises Updates Soon

Lokesh Kanagaraj has put the rumour mills to rest. Amid speculation that his much-awaited collaboration with Allu Arjun, tentatively titled AA23, had been shelved, the director shared a photo of himself in discussion with the Icon Star on October 12, captioning it: “Interesting updates coming soon.”

The post, shared on X and Instagram, effectively confirms the project is very much on track. Pre-production is reportedly well underway, with the complete story narration done, and principal photography expected to begin in December 2026, eyeing a Christmas 2027 release — though the makers haven’t confirmed dates officially.

AA23 marks Kanagaraj’s Telugu debut and his first collaboration with Allu Arjun. The film will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers, with music by Anirudh Ravichander, and is described as a stylish, Western-inspired pan-Indian action drama.

Allu Arjun, meanwhile, is currently shooting Atlee’s sci-fi actioner Raaka alongside Deepika Padukone.
