Sunny Deol vs Esha Deol: Half-Brother and Sister Head for a November 20 Box-Office Clash
November 20, 2026 is shaping up as a family affair at the box office: Sunny Deol’s Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak and Esha Deol’s Pratap are both scheduled to release in theatres on the same day, setting up a rare clash between Dharmendra’s children on the big screen. (Esha Deol is Sunny Deol’s half-sister; Esha is the daughter of Dharmendra and Hema Malini.)
Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak is a crime thriller that stars Sunny Deol in a rugged avatar. Directed by M. Padmakumar — the acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker making his Bollywood directorial debut — the film is a Hindi adaptation of Padmakumar’s own critically celebrated 2018 Malayalam film Joseph, which starred Joju George. The plot follows a retired police officer with sharp forensic intuition who is pulled into a high-stakes crime investigation after an unexpected personal tragedy, unravelling a chilling, systemic medical racket. The film is presented by Kamal Mukut and produced by Deepak Mukut, Hemant Mukut and Lokesh Mukut, with Ravi Kishan and Pragya Jaiswal in significant roles. Sunny Deol unveiled the film’s intense first-look motion poster on October 12, locking the November 20 release.
Pratap is directed by Sachin Saraf and produced by Pradeep Rangwani under UV Films. The film features Amit Sadh as a decorated Mumbai encounter specialist, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Esha Deol, Seema Biswas, Milind Gunaji and Tigmanshu Dhulia. The project marks Esha Deol’s return to theatrical releases after a long hiatus.
The shared release date makes November a busy stretch for Sunny Deol in particular: just 15 days earlier, on November 5, he will appear as Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part One, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash. For Esha Deol, Pratap is a notable comeback vehicle after her recent focus on OTT projects.
With both films carrying star legacy and contrasting genres — a gritty investigative thriller versus an encounter-cop drama — November 20 promises an intriguing test of audience appetites and a clear point of comparison for trade observers.
