Ramayana Begins Character Poster Run With Arun Govil as King Dashrath
The makers of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend have begun unveiling character posters — and the first one belongs to Arun Govil as King Dashrath. The veteran actor, who immortalised Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s iconic 1987 TV show, now plays Ram’s father in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic.
The poster shows Govil seated on a majestic golden throne in royal regalia, and it’s loaded with franchise markers: “Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana”, “Directed by Nitesh Tiwari”, and a “Part 1 — in cinemas Diwali 2026 worldwide” tag. More character posters are expected in the coming days.
Govil’s full-circle casting is the talking point — the man who became synonymous with Ram on television will now bless the new Ram from the screen as his father. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
Produced by Namit Malhotra (Prime Focus Studios) and Yash (Monster Mind Creations), with music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is being mounted as a two-part epic, distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures.
