“The Truth Will Remain the Truth”: Nana Patekar’s Son Malhar Breaks Silence on Tanushree Dutta’s Allegations
Nana Patekar’s son Malhar Patekar has broken his silence on Tanushree Dutta’s allegations against his late father, maintaining that the legal matter is long settled and questioning why it keeps being raised. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Malhar addressed the controversy without naming the actor directly.
“Without naming anyone, I want to say that the case people are bringing up unnecessarily is already over. Judiciary se clear hua hain, case khatam ho chuka; phir bhi bol rahe [the case has been cleared by the judiciary, it is over, yet people keep talking about it],” he said.
“Aise logo ko mein unko kuch nahi bolunga; joh sach hai wahi rahega, bhagwan unka bhala kare [I have nothing to say to such people. The truth will remain the truth. May God bless them],” Malhar added, saying this was all he had to say on the matter.
The controversy dates back to 2018, when Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar and others of sexual harassment on the sets of Horn OK Pleassss during India’s #MeToo movement. Nana Patekar consistently denied the allegations, and the Mumbai Police filed a closure report in the case in 2019 citing lack of evidence.
The matter returned to the spotlight after the veteran actor’s death. Nana Patekar passed away on October 8 at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Goa residence; the post-mortem confirmed the death was caused by a heart attack resulting from a blood clot in the left main coronary artery. He was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Pune. Following his death, Tanushree shared remarks on Instagram Stories referring to the late actor in harsh terms, and later told the media she would not forget her claims regarding the film’s set.
In the same interview, Malhar also dismissed speculation about his parents’ relationship and family dynamics, saying that not sharing family photographs on social media did not mean there was no love or affection between them.
