Kangana Ranaut Moves Delhi High Court Over AI-Generated Content Misuse; Vijay Deverakonda Files Similar Plea
Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of her personality and publicity rights against the alleged unauthorised use of her identity, including AI-generated content circulating online.
On Thursday, a single-judge bench of Justice Vikas Mahajan issued summons in her suit and notice on her interim injunction application. Her counsel told the court she was aggrieved by obscene content posted against her on social media and AI-generated material falsely attributed to her. The court asked her counsel to name the defendants against whom a takedown order is sought; the matter is listed next on February 3, 2027.
In a separate proceeding the same day, the court also issued summons in a similar personality-rights suit filed by Vijay Deverakonda, over alleged impersonation, fake endorsements and unauthorised commercial use of his identity. That case is listed on February 2, 2027.
The two suits add to a growing list of personality-rights disputes before the Delhi High Court involving public figures and AI-generated impersonation.
