Janhvi Kapoor, Sreeleela and Siddharth Gupta’s Romantic Thriller Goes on Floors; First Schedule Begins in Nainital

Janhvi Kapoor, Sreeleela and Siddharth Gupta have officially begun shooting for their untitled romantic thriller, with the film’s first schedule now underway in Nainital. The project, directed by Umesh Bisht, is one of the more intriguing new announcements of the season, bringing together three actors from very different cinematic backgrounds.

According to a source close to the development, “The team has commenced the first shooting schedule in Nainital, and there is a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the project. With Siddharth Gupta, Sreeleela and Janhvi Kapoor coming together for this thriller, it is an exciting combination to look forward to. The team is now focused on bringing the story to life, and the shoot has officially begun as planned.”

Reports suggest the film will explore a romantic thriller narrative centred on two women who become obsessed with the same man — a premise that sets up an intriguing triangle. The project is backed by Ektaa Kapoor and Guneet Monga Kapoor, and is expected to explore the darker and more complex facets of romance and relationships. The film’s title, character details and additional cast members remain under wraps for now.

The casting is notable for the industries it bridges. Janhvi Kapoor was recently seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and is also associated with upcoming projects including Peddi. Sreeleela, who has made her mark across Telugu and Kannada cinema with films such as Dhamaka and Guntur Kaaram — and who featured in the chartbuster song ‘Kissik’ from Pushpa 2: The Rule — is simultaneously preparing for her Hindi leading-lady debut opposite Kartik Aaryan in Anurag Basu’s romantic musical, which has locked an April 30, 2027 release. Siddharth Gupta, meanwhile, has drawn attention for his portrayal of Lord Krishna in Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart.

Director Umesh Bisht brings a varied track record to the material. He has previously helmed the Sanya Malhotra-led Pagglait, The Trial Season 2, the time-travel series Gyaarah Gyaarah and the investigative series Kaun? Who Did It? — work that suggests a comfort with both intimate character drama and genre storytelling, both of which this romantic thriller will likely demand.

With filming now underway in Nainital, the project marks a fresh on-screen collaboration between its three leads. Further announcements on the title and release plans are expected as the schedule progresses.
