Ramayana North America Box Office: $1.5 Million Premiere Pre-Sales Chase Bollywood Record Ahead of November 4 Previews
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 is heading for a record-chasing opening in North America. With two days of advance booking still to go before its paid previews, trade trackers put the film’s North America premiere pre-sales at $1.5 million (about Rs 13.4 crore), and at the current pace it is projected to open its previews with at least $2.25 million (about Rs 20 crore). That would break the record for the biggest premiere opening ever for a Bollywood film in North America.
The record to beat belongs to Dhurandhar 2, which collected $2 million from its North America premieres and $3.95 million across premieres plus Day 1. Ramayana has already crossed $500,000 in pre-sales for its opening day alone, and its total overseas advance bookings across all dates on sale have reached $5 million (about Rs 44.5 crore), according to trade reports published on Tuesday, November 3. More than 51,000 tickets have been sold for the November 4 paid previews in the United States, and more than 1.40 lakh tickets have been booked across the November 4-8 opening period in North America, with roughly 37 per cent of those concentrated on preview night.
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, with Sony Pictures distributing outside India, it releases worldwide on November 5, with paid previews in North America on November 4, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with IMAX as a primary platform. Here is the Filmverse take: a premiere record measures intent before a single review lands. US and Canada audiences are buying Ramayana on the epic itself, the cast and the IMAX promise, and that is exactly the opening a two-part epic needs — a loud first weekend for Part 1 and a ready-made audience for Part 2, due for Diwali 2027. The caution is real, though: trackers disagree on exact counts because they snapshot sales at different hours and treat blocked seats differently, and none of these figures come from the producers or Sony. If the previews play as well as they are selling, the record falls on Wednesday night.
