“Not My Residence”: Ajay Devgn’s Team Responds After BMC Demolishes Part of Juhu Property
Ajay Devgn’s team has issued a clarification after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out a partial demolition at a Juhu property linked to the actor, stating that the property in question is not his residence but a separate property that has been rented out.
In the statement, the team said they have applied to the BMC for the required permissions and are complying with the civic body’s directions. “The necessary changes, alterations and modifications, as required by the BMC, have been carried out,” the statement said, noting that the property has been let out to tenants.
The property — a roughly 7,802 sq ft premises in the Kapol Co-operative Housing Society in Juhu, reportedly owned by Devgn and his mother Veena Devgn — had come under the BMC’s scanner over alleged unauthorised internal alterations, including partition walls and windows. The civic body’s K/West ward had issued a notice on September 10, 2026, under Section 354A of the BMC Act. Reports suggest the alterations were linked to a proposed salon or spa at the premises.
The owners’ response to the notice was rejected on October 6, following which the BMC carried out the partial demolition on October 17, removing the interior portions it deemed unauthorised. Importantly, the action was limited to those interior alterations — the bungalow itself was not demolished, despite some headlines suggesting otherwise.
The clarification matters because early coverage of the action described the premises loosely as Devgn’s property, inviting speculation that the actor’s own home was being torn down. His team’s statement draws a clear line: the premises in question is a separate, tenanted asset, the required permissions have been sought, and the BMC-mandated corrections have been completed. For a star whose public image has been carefully managed over decades, the distinction between a personal residence and a rental investment was clearly worth making quickly.
The episode underlines how even high-profile property owners are subject to Mumbai’s strict building regulations, and Devgn’s team has positioned the statement as a full cooperation with the civic body. The actor himself has not commented personally on the matter.
