Ranabaali Day 2 Box Office: Vijay Deverakonda’s Period Drama Dips 21% on Saturday
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s period drama Ranabaali slowed on its second day, collecting ₹7.30 crore nett in India on Saturday, a 21.1% decline from its ₹9.25 crore opening-day nett, according to trade estimates compiled by Sacnilk and reported by 7Globe.
With the Saturday figures in, the film’s cumulative India nett stands at ₹16.55 crore after two days. The worldwide gross has reached ₹26.65 crore, per the same trade data. The drop, while modest by the standards of big-ticket Telugu releases, will put the spotlight on the Sunday performance to judge the film’s opening-weekend trajectory.
Ranabaali opened in cinemas on Friday, October 16, and marks Vijay Deverakonda’s third collaboration with production house Mythri Movie Makers after Dear Comrade and Khushi. Presented by Gulshan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar and T-Series Films, the movie is directed by Rahul Sankrityan, who previously teamed up with Deverakonda on Taxiwaala. It also reunites the actor with Rashmika Mandanna after the hit pairing of Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. International actor Arnold Vosloo plays a key role, with music composed by Ajay-Atul.
The Telugu epic is reportedly one of the pricier bets in the actor’s career, and trade watchers will be tracking Sunday’s numbers closely: a strong hold would signal that word of mouth is steady, while a further slide could raise questions about its long-run prospects. The film is running against a crowded release window, with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 and several Hindi releases competing for screens and footfalls.
It is worth remembering that the day-2 dip came despite healthy pre-release buzz and strong advance bookings — which this site covered ahead of release — suggesting that the opening day itself may have front-loaded much of the initial demand. All figures cited here are trade estimates and may differ from the makers’ official numbers.
