Nakhrewaalii Trailer Out: Ansh Duggal and Pragati Srivastava Give Majnu-Laila a ‘Womantic’ Twist; Akshay Kumar Wishes the Debutant
The official trailer of Nakhrewaalii, Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions’ romantic comedy, is out — and it comes with a quirky tagline that sets the tone for the entire film: “Kabhi kabhi ishq mein majnu ko bhi laila banna padta hai” (sometimes, in love, Majnu too must become Laila).
The trailer introduces newcomers Ansh Duggal and Pragati Srivastava as two characters with sharply contrasting views on love. What begins as a clash of perspectives — with the trailer probing how some men perceive preferential treatment for women, and the double standards they apply to women they date versus women they would marry — gradually develops into a romance. The makers describe the film’s take on the genre as a “‘Womantic’ twist” on the familiar Majnu-Laila dynamic, using humour to raise questions about gender biases and expectations within relationships.
Directed by Rahul Shanklya and written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, Nakhrewaalii is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma. The music credits include Vayu, Vaibhav Pani, Sharan Rawat, Gaurav Chatterji and Tanishk Bagchi, with the background score by Aman Pant. The film releases in cinemas on October 30, 2026 — positioning it as a fresh romantic comedy option in the Diwali corridor.
The trailer has already drawn a warm show of support from within the industry. Akshay Kumar took to social media after watching it, writing to Ansh Duggal: “Maza aa gaya Ansh!! Mahadev karen tu bohot bada star bane… Bas mehnat karte raho, kaam karte raho, aage badhte raho! All the best for Nakhrewaalii. Jai Mahadev.” An emotional Ansh responded that the superstar’s blessing had reached his heart, adding that he hoped to become a person like Akshay beyond just an actor.
With a newcomer pair, an established production house and a trailer that has got people talking about its playful reversal of gender roles, Nakhrewaalii will be one to watch when it hits screens on October 30.
