Ramayana’s South Distribution Locked: Dil Raju, Yash, Think Studios and E4 Entertainment Come On Board

Two weeks before Ramayana: Part One storms theatres on November 5, the film’s South India distribution map is complete. In an exclusive report, Bollywood Hungama has revealed the regional heavyweights who will release Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part epic across the southern states: producer-distributor Dil Raju has bagged Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rocking Star Yash himself will handle Karnataka, Think Studios takes Tamil Nadu, and E4 Entertainment has acquired Kerala.

The line-up reads like a roll call of South Indian box-office power. Dil Raju is among the most influential distributors in the Telugu states, Yash distributing his own film in Karnataka turns the home turf into a personal mission, and Think Studios and E4 Entertainment give the film entrenched local muscle in Tamil Nadu and Kerala respectively.

The announcement underlines how Ramayana is being positioned — not as a Hindi film dubbed for the South, but as a genuinely pan-Indian release. The casting already reflects that intent: Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi is Sita, Yash makes his Hindi-film debut as Ravana, with Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The film is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with Oscar-winning DNEG on visual effects and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, and the music is a historic collaboration between Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Part 2 is slated for Diwali 2027.

The distributor choices also signal the trade’s confidence in the film’s southern pull — and this is where the news gets interesting. Locking named regional giants, rather than handing the film to a single all-India distributor to sub-let territories, this close to release suggests the makers expect the southern markets to contribute a defining share of the opening. With reported US advance sales already crossing $100,000 and a worldwide IMAX release planned, Ramayana is being mounted as Indian cinema’s biggest-ever theatrical bet, and the distribution muscle now matches the ambition.

Separately, Bollywood Hungama also reported that Ramayana: Part One will head to JioHotstar on a pay-per-view model after its theatrical window — a reminder that the film’s revenue strategy is being engineered as carefully as its release.
