Jailer 2 Crosses ₹209 Crore Worldwide in Just Two Days, Heads Into a Huge Dasara Weekend
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has roared into the ₹200-crore club in just two days, with trade estimates pegging the film’s two-day worldwide gross at approximately ₹209.10 crore. The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel is now the fourth Tamil film of 2026 to cross the ₹200-crore worldwide mark — and the fastest of the year to get there.
Day 2, which fell on a working Friday, held remarkably well. According to trade estimates, the film collected ₹35.60 crore net in India on Day 2 — a drop of roughly 40 per cent from its massive ₹59.70 crore net opening day — taking the two-day India net total to ₹95.30 crore. The language split on Day 2 underlines the film’s core strength: Tamil contributed ₹25.25 crore net, Telugu ₹7.25 crore, Hindi ₹2.75 crore and Kannada ₹0.35 crore. Overseas, the film added another ₹40 crore on Day 2, taking the two-day overseas gross to ₹97 crore.
Trade trackers say the evening shows did the heavy lifting on Day 2, with footfalls picking up sharply once office hours ended — and Saturday’s advance bookings were already running ahead of Friday’s opening-day numbers, a rare and bullish signal. With the Dasara holidays following the weekend, trade circles are watching whether Jailer 2 can deliver the biggest opening week in Kollywood history.
The box-office juggernaut has also become a pan-India talking point. On Friday, Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh shared live reactions from a theatre on X, calling the film a “B L O C K B U S T E R” and declaring “superstardom thy name RAJNI sir,” saying he clapped, whistled and cheered at every Rajinikanth entry. A day earlier, Kamal Haasan had congratulated Rajinikanth in Tamil on X, calling Jailer 2 a worldwide superhit and praising director Nelson Dilipkumar, composer Anirudh Ravichander and the Sun Pictures team. Dhanush, Karthik Subbaraj, Lingusamy, Venkat Prabhu, Vishnu Vishal and Soori were among the other stars who praised the film on its opening day.
