Stree 3 Confirmed for 2028: Dinesh Vijan Reveals Script Is Ready, Shoot Starts Late Next Year

Chanderi will call again — but fans must wait. Producer Dinesh Vijan has confirmed that Stree 3, the next chapter of Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, is set to arrive in 2028, moving off its earlier August 2027 slot.

Speaking at FICCI Frames 2026 alongside Rajkummar Rao, Vijan revealed that director Amar Kaushik has already finished writing the script. The shoot will begin towards the end of next year, after Kaushik wraps Mahavatar — the Vicky Kaushal-starrer as Lord Parashuram, which films from January to June.

Vijan teased a surprise in store: viewers will get everything they’ve loved about the franchise, but “where it starts and where it ends will be a complete revelation.” The makers are eyeing an Independence Day or Christmas 2028 release window.

The Stree franchise is Bollywood’s biggest horror-comedy success — Stree (2018) and Stree 2 (2024) together grossed over ₹1,400 crore worldwide. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are expected to return.
