Top Opening Hindi Movies Post-Pandemic

After the pandemic lull, Indian cinema roared back with a vengeance, captivating audiences with larger-than-life spectacles and captivating stories. This article showcases the top 20 opening films that ignited the post-pandemic Indian box office, ranked from highest to lowest opening day India nett collection.

The latest addition in this list is Fighter which took the 11th best opening post pandemic, also it is the third best opening film for Hrithik Roshan. Bang Bang is his second best at around 24 crore nett, the third film is War. All three War, Bang bang and Figher have the same actor / director combo, where Siddharth Anand directed all these three films for Hrithik Roshan.

The opening of Fighter however is the lowest among the bigger action films where such films need to start better as they are front loaded and might not sustain for longer for its screening like some other genres films can. The benefit for Fighter has been the big nation holiday on 26th January which gave it that upward boost which then subsided immediately as it happened because of the holiday but not because of the hype or word of mouth for the film.

The problem with Fighter as explained by some film critics and analysts is that although it has been perceived as an action film but it is about pilot fights which gave the film a more western feel and the mass audience of India does not come out in numbers for a western film. The western feel of Fighter was so much dominated that it even suppressed the desh bhakti or the patriotism of the story and characters. Alternatively it could not connect with the mass audience of non-metro. The trade analysts have explained the above reasons for the mass centres not collecting well for an action film.
