SALAAR vs DUNKI: Clash on Christmas

Yes, you read it right, this Christmas it will be Diwali again when the two biggies will clash and disrupt the India and Global Box-office again. If this happens there will be blast at the box office and the fans of Shahrukh khan and Prabhas will celebrate not only Christmas but all festivals all together. I already can feel the excitement while writing this update.

While Shah Rukh Khan has already secured the Christmas release date of 22-Dec-2023 for his film Dunki, the development is that now Prabhas is contending for the same slot and preparing for the release of Salaar on 22-Dec-2023. Taran Adarsh also shared this excitement on twitter.

The person who is linked with Anil Thadani’s AA films says, “We have received an email from AA Films stating that Salaar will make its debut on theatrical screens on December 22, 2023”. Salaar is now almost confirmed to clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki at the global box office.
The exhibitor further told that a decision has been made to capitalize on the holiday season all around the world because Christmas is approaching. “Both Hombale and Prabhas are under the impression that there are sufficient theaters around the world to support two films at once and to provide each one a prolonged run of three weeks. According to the information that was provided to us by the source, this action is a calculated strategy to compete with Dunki on December 22.

The official announcement is expected to come out on Friday, September 29. Fingers crossed that this actually happens.

Dunki

Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu star in the comedy-drama film Dunki, which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani. It is believed that the story is
dealing with the issue of illegal immigration from India to the USA and Canada, using a backdoor route known as “Donkey Flight”. Shah Rukh played the role of a travel agent, who helps people cross the border. It is also about the homecoming as Shah Rukh revealed “a story of people who want to come back home… when you finally get the calling”.

Salaar

Salaar on the other hand Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel, is an action-thriller film and stars Prabhas, Shruti Haasan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. This film marks Prabha’s debut to Kannada film industry, though it is a pan-Indian film. The film is about a violent man who becomes a gang leader, gets engulfed into gang wars and battles a great antagonist.

This is not the first time Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas have had a box office feud. On Christmas in 2018, Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero faced Prabhas’ KGF: Chapter 1. While Zero was a box office disappointment, KGF: Chapter 1 cemented Prabhas as a pan-Indian star.
