Akshay Kumar recently released the official teaser for Oh My God 2, which also features Pankaj Tripathi in the lead roles. Amit Rai is the director of the sequel of the same-titled movie from 2012. Fans were quite unhappy to learn that Paresh Rawal, who portrayed the lead in the first installment, would not be returning for the sequel shortly after the cast was revealed. The actor previously admitted in an interview that he didn’t enjoy the script and that as a result, he doesn’t want to be a part of the sequel.

I didn’t like the script, so I didn’t want to be a part of it, the actor once admitted to a portal. I dislike producing a sequel solely to profit off the first installment, as we did in the case of Hera Pheri. Make a sequel similar to Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., where you make a quantum leap before doing Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
It appears, though, that the script was never a problem. According to reports, Paresh Rawal left the movie because of a financial problem. You did really hear correctly! The actor had allegedly previously requested more money than what was given to him, according to a 2021 report. Rawal believed he was worth more than his market value.

According to Industry insider sources, Paresh Rawal was undoubtedly the top preference for the sequel of Oh My God! OMG2. In fact, the producers had initiated discussions with him. Nevertheless, the actor asserted that he should be compensated with a higher sum than his current market value, given that he played the lead role in the first installment and was a significant factor in its triumph. Conversely, the producers were concerned that increasing his payment would disrupt the budget.

According to the source, Paresh suggested a profit-sharing agreement, but this was unsuccessful due to the involvement of multiple producers in the project. Despite multiple attempts to reach an agreement, the financial deal fell through, leading Paresh to choose to leave because he believed he deserved better compensation. Only after Paresh’s departure did the makers proceed to sign Pankaj Tripathi. They are now optimistic that Pankaj Tripathi will bring a distinct and essential flavor to the story.
