Sigma Review Roundup — Jason Sanjay’s Directorial Debut Fails to Impress Critics

Jason Sanjay’s much-watched directorial debut, Sigma, has not survived first contact with the critics. The Tamil-Telugu heist drama starring Sundeep Kishan released on October 2, and the verdicts have been largely unforgiving.

Cinema Express called it “pulpy and functional” at 2.5/5, MorningShow also went 2.5/5 — crediting Sundeep Kishan’s energy and polished action while flagging predictable writing and pacing. 123telugu rated it 2.25/5, noting honest effort from the cast but a weak screenplay. NRIPage (1.5/5) and Gulte (1.5/5) were harsher, calling it forgettable — outdated writing, excessive slow-motion, and a loud background score.

The recurring thread: Jason Sanjay, the son of Tamil Nadu CM Vijay, proves he can stage big action (a multi-level parking stunt is a standout), but the film makes a weak case for his ability to write complex emotions — the characters stay distant, so the 500-crore heist never quite grips.

Sundeep Kishan emerges with his reputation intact; the debutant director has something to prove next time.
